And you wonder why you are not growing your business?

 


I come today to ask, when was the last time you got frustrated by a business not running a business out of their business? Doesn't make sense? Please read on because so many people wonder why they cannot grow their business.

I pride myself on being a great speaking coach. I teach people how to create sales and success by being a great presenter. Much of what I add for value is helping people in running a more successful business.

So probably like a whole lot of you folks, I get completely freaked when so many small businesses have no idea how to run their business. And when we ask if they would like help they say, no.
It's like trying o teach most corporations how to create great managers. Oh, all of our managers are great! 

And that is where our lives crack wide open and we freak! Why don't people want help? Why don't more small businesses invite, ask, demand help to be a lot more successful? 

Do you realize that business itself does not create business? It takes people. It takes training. It takes knowledge. Sales people are not naturally sales people. Most of us hate sales. And most of us hate to be sold. So why are we not taught how to market our products and servies so that we are almost never selling something?

I site example after example. I have helped dozens of small business owners crawl out of the ooze of squeaking out a living and into the path of growth & prosperity where business comes to them.
Here is another example. I looked online and found a massage therapist who would come to my home. Yay me! They came, it was a good massage. Part of what I did was have a conversation. How's business? How's life?

And this person says, I love doing massages but cannot make a living doing it so I have a couple other part time gigs I do to make it all work.

WOW! I asked. so would you like help building up your massage business so this would be all you do.
Aw, no thanks, I am doing ok as I am.
And POOF! Another business blows up.

Well, they are part of a chain that offers home massages. But this person isn't making enough appointments to create the life they want. And unwilling to do anything about it.
And people wonder why their businesses are not growing.

I don't care if you are a massage therapist, an insurance sales person, a corporate growth specialist, if you are not pushing the limits every time you meet someone you are failing.
This massage person finished their job, said hey have a great day and you will probably receive a survey from the company. Did not offer a business card or flyer, did not make any real connection with me, the client. Simply packed up and left.

Never to be seen again. Well, it has been two weeks and I did get the survey for how it went.
Not a call. Not an email. Not a personal Hey, can we book you another appointment?
After all, when is the best time to make that next appointment? During the current appointment! Of course!

What are you not doing that is killing your business? What are you not asking that is defeating your growth?

What don't you know that will never allow you to reach new levels of income or opportunities?
Maybe it's time you started asking.
